The <a href="http://www.freepatentsonline.com/3972958.html" rel="nofollow">gas-to-liquid technology</a> is well-proven and Shell is even <a href="http://www.siteselection.com/ssinsider/snapshot/sf040202.htm" rel="nofollow">building large scale refineries in the middle east to convert natural gas into diesel</a>. Why don’t we use the abundance of coal in the US (38 states have coal reserves, which do not even require exploration to find) to gasify the coal and then convert the methane into gasoline and diesel.

The gas-to-liquid technology is well-proven and Shell is even building large scale refineries in the middle east to convert natural gas into diesel.
