IAEA: Ahmadinejad election rival launched Iran nuclear program – Haaretz – Israel News . In light of this story, I would like to say “Would the real Mousavi please stand up?” ~~to reference Eminem.
Yes, according to Haaretz.com, when this article came out on June 12, 2009, Mousavi was Prime Minister when Iran started their nuclear weapons program. Is it any wonder that Obama calls both the candidates “two peas in a pod”? We have Mousavi as a responsible party at the start of a lethal nuclear weapons program.
This is not to say that I don’t feel sadness for the protesters who have been killed and brutalized. All my sorrow goes out to the suffering in this situation. The US should not be more involved in this than they are. If we want to stop being called Imperialists, we must stop intervening in this type of situation. I won’t go green on twitter and be a “freedom fighter” in support of a country that hates us. There is no freedom in either candidate, win or lose. It’s an unfortunate situation, but they must deal with it as a country. We should channel our passions to where they can best be served.

Although, I don’t think we should get involved in the affairs in Iran at this point, I don’t think this is the same as what we’ve been doing in other countries. The Iranian people are clearly crying out for change and are doing everything in their power to make that change.

I think Will makes a good point that is pretty much aligned with what Jackie is saying too.

Before we start backing a cause and a person we don’t understand, let’s first admit what we don’t know. A simple reality check helps to stop us from acting on ignorance, which can be very dangerous.
