I think Will makes a good point that is pretty much aligned with what Jackie is saying too.

Before we start backing a cause and a person we don't understand, let's first admit what we don't know. A simple reality check helps to stop us from acting on ignorance, which can be very dangerous.

Although, I don't think we should get involved in the affairs in Iran at this point, I don't think this is the same as what we've been doing in other countries. The Iranian people are clearly crying out for change and are doing everything in their power to make that change.

My wife an I earned a bit over 200K last year. Between state, fed, property tax, city tax, social security, and medicare we paid a bit over 100K in taxes. 25,000 went to childcare so we could WORK. 12,000 (insurance 2,400/yr gas upkeep and licensing 3600 yr/ payment for 2 cars 6000/yr) went to vehicles, gas licensing, and insurance so we could get are kids to daycare and go to WORK. 4,000 went to continuing education so my wife could maintain her license and continue to WORK. 6,000 went into our 3 kids college funds because they wont get gov tuition handouts because their parents WORK. 15,000 went to retirement so someday we won't have to WORK. Health Insuance cost 8,000 so that we could stay healthy and WORK. Food cost/formula/and diapers are 6,000 yr. Mortgage and utilites cost 22,000.

After these fixed expenses, we are left with 12,000 for such luxuries as savings, clothing ourselves, repairs to home, donating to charities, eating out, entertainment, etc. etc for a family of 5. We did not qualify for the stimulus rebate the first round, nor will we this round. We're too rich.

Dan Wayment
I just want to point something out. The purpose of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005 was to appoint an independent agency to conduct the check and balances on the two GSE, Goverment Sponsored Enterprise. The institutions which where government run had a S5.2 Trillion debt and was tagged as a systemic problem under goverment control. Appointed an independent agency to monitor the two GSE is prudent. Allowing the government to monitor itself after the Disastrous failure to monitor the two GSE in the first place is the same logic to make it voluntary for Financial Institutions to voluntary disclose their financial management and transaction. The purpose of The Reform Act of 2005 was to take control out of government for the two GSE and place it in an Independent Agency to monitor, ensure tranparency, and prevent the forcasted systemic problems that have been raised by the Bush Administration, Treasury Secretary, the FED Charmain, and others.

Why did the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005 fail. Republicans proposed S. 190 [109th]: Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005 it never made it out of committee.
